N.B. several subgenera are described in this genus: Saaristo & Tanasevitch, 1999: Aurantiphantes, Mughiphantes, Suffusiphantes and Whymperiphantes, Saaristo & Tanasevitch, 2004: Cornuphantes and Sachaliphantes – the latter elevated to genus by Tanasevitch, 2008a: 128; the species treated in Tanasevitch & Saaristo, 2006 are not assigned to subgenera.
