Genus comment: A. Strand, 1929, replacement name for Achaea O. Pickard-Cambridge, 1882, preoccupied, omitted by Roewer; as construed by Levi, 1995a: 6, possibly polyphyletic (Forster, Platnick & Coddington, 1990: 114), not a senior synonym of Parasteatoda Archer, 1946 (Saaristo, 2006: 69, contra Levi, 1995a: 6), or of Cryptachaea Archer, 1946 or Hentziectypus Archer, 1946 (Yoshida, 2008: 38, contra Levi, 1955a: 6).
